The following is taken from “The key to arriving at the door of the Messenger Sall Allahu Alaihi Wa sallam” by Ash Shaykh Muhammad Sadiq Alawi (Hafidh Allahu wa Naf’an Allahu Bih).
“This salutation is famous throughout the world. It was written by Shaykh Abu Bakr bin Salem (R.A) who is buried in Aynat, Hadramawt. He was from among the great Awliyaa of Allah and is known as “Fahr al Wujud” (The honor of creation). It is enough of a testification of the greatness of his rank to know that this Salutation has achieved an acceptance throughout the world. This salutation is an overflowing spring of blessings and is one of the favorite salutations of all lovers of the Prophet Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim.
Innumerable Awliyaa and Saliheen have adopted this particular salutation as their daily prayer and have recited it in abundance. The benefits of this are so vast they cannot be completely encompassed. Its constant recitation brings the reader purity of heart and a vision of the Prophet Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim. This Salutation increase’s one in sustenance, protects the reader from harms of magic and Jinn as well as removing calamities away. It is a beautiful Salutation short in its length but vast in its benefits.”
“The Salutation of the Crowning Adornment” [salatu-t tajiyyah] is a benediction that has found universal fame. It was written by Habib Abu Bakr b. Salim, Allah illuminate his resting abode, who is laid to rest in Aynat, Hadramawt. He is known by the epithet, “honour of creation” [fakhru-l wujud]. His saintliness and piety is widely acknowledged.
This salutation is an overflowing spring of blessings and is certainly one of the favourite benedictions of all lovers of the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace. Many saints [awliya] and pious [salihin] have embraced Salatu-t Taj as part of their daily litany and attained much Enabling Grace [tawfiq] as a result.
The benefits of this prayer are so vast that they cannot be completely encompassed. Its recitation brings the reader purity of heart, clarity of intellect and vision of the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace. Regular recitation increases sustenance, protects from the evils of magic and jinn, and removes calamities.
The many references to the blessed night journey and ascension to the Heavens [al-isra wa-l mi'raj] of the Holy Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace, makes this benediction a favourite to be recited on the night of 27th Rajab, wherein that momentous event is widely believed to have happened.
Darood Taj along with the recitation of Dua’ Ganjul Arsh and Darood Akbar were prescribed as a panacea to remove the Shaytanic stranglehold western music had on most of the American Muslims at that time.
Commenting on The Book “Mishkatus Salawaat” by Maulana Ilyas Burney Rahmatullah ‘alaihi an excellent Majmu’a (collection of Salawaat) from various sources including Darood Taj, Dalaailul Khayraat of Imam Muhammad ibn Sulaiman al Juzuli Radhi Allahu ‘anhu, and Bashaairul Khayraat of Sayyidinaa Muhyuddin Shaykh Abdul Qaadir al Jilani Quddus Allahu Sirruhul atheem, The writer at mentions and I quote, “As-salaat u’t taajiyyah is very popular. It was composed by al-Habib Abi Bakr bin Salim al-’Alawi al-Husayni, Radhi Allahu ‘Anhu (919-992 A.H), and in its original form is given in two kitabs, namely,
Rasaailu Haammah fi’l Ad’iyah (Important Writings on Supplications, p. 320)
Risaalat-ul-Hajj al-Mabrur wa Sa’yan Mashkoor (A Treatise on Accepted Hajj and Meritorious Sa’y, p. 180) of Shaykh Muhammad ‘AbdAllah bin Shaykh al-Husaini, Naf’an Allahu bih.
In its expanded form, it is found in kitabs such as:
Qadiri Ridhwi Majmu’ah Wazaaif (Collected Regular Invocations in the Qadiri Ridhwi Tariqa) of Janab Iqbal Ahmad Nuri and Janab Anees Ahmad Nuri (in Urdu), and
Durood Shareef (Noble Blessings) of Khwaja Nithaar Ahmad (in Urdu).
Benefit of reciting Durood-e-Taj
There are limitless benefits for this Blessed Darood Sharif [Salaat 'alan Nabi Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim] and they cannot all be written. A few are mentioned. If someone wants to see Rasool Allah Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim then at the height of the month on Yawmul Jumu’ah [Friday] after salaatul Ishaa having performed wudhu and putting on Attar he should recite this Darood Taj seventy [70] times and sleep after that. If he does this for eleven [11] nights, Inshaa Allah Ta ‘ala he will see Rasool Allah Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim.
For clearing his heart, he should recite this Darood Taj after Salaatul Fajr seven times, and again, three times after Salaatul Asr and Salaatul ‘Ishaa respectively. For repelling the Magic of Jinn and the Shayateen, and to be safe from an epidemic and any other diseases, he recites it eleven times.
For being safe from enemies and the Hasid [jealousy] of the Haasideen and the oppression of oppressive rulers, and to be rid of sadness and grief, he should recite this Darood Taj for forty [40] nights after Salaatul ‘Ishaa forty one [41] times.
If anyone wants to see Sayyidinaa Rasool Allah Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim in his dream, then he should recite Salawat ul Taj Shareef, on eleven Friday nights continuously and that too on the advancing stages of the moon. The pre-requisites of reciting Salawat Sharif are below;
a) make wudhu
b) put clean clothes that have been scented with pure scent
c) Face the qibla and recite salawat for 170 times then go to bed
For the sanctity of the soul, one should recite the salawat seven times after salatul fajar three times after salatul asar and Isha each day.
And for overcoming the cruel rulers and enemies, and to come out of the misery of poverty, one should recite this salawat for 40 say continuously, 41 times each day. One who wishes to enhance the avenues of economy in abundance, he or she must make it a routine to revise this salawat sharif seven times each day after salatul fajr or between tahajjud and fajr, besides this salawat al taaj has many benefits!!! it is the panacea of all the present day ills and will enable the reciter to pass a happy and peaceful and prosperous life for here and hereafter….” Courtesy: Aleem Siddiqui Reception Committee Facebook
