Discover the timeless ethics of Futuwwah that have shaped virtuous individuals and societies throughout history. Futuwwah is practical ethics and altruistic morality embodied in the lives of the prophets over centuries and their followers in all ages. This altruistic moral understanding started to diminish gradually in societies in the process of extreme individualism, hedonism, and secularization which culminated in the moral crisis into which our world has fallen today. The purpose of this book is to draw attention to this forgotten noble tradition, with the ultimate purpose of reviving it.
Recep Şentürk is the Dean of the College of Islamic Studies at Hamad Bin Khalifa University and the Founding President of Usul Academy. Dr. Şentürk holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University’s Department of Sociology and specializes in Civilization Studies, Sociology, and Islamic Studies with a focus on social networks, human rights, and modernization in the Muslim world.

ISIP INAUGURAL CONFERENCE- Aug. 13, 2022, Istanbul Tarbiyyah and Futuwwa: The Application of Islamic Psychology within Islamic Education Dr. Abdallah Rothman talks about the application of Islamic Psychology in the realm of Islamic education. He emphasizes how it is crucial for us to engage in acts of service in the community, physical training, and experiential learning in order to have a holistic approach towards mental health and the journey of purifying our souls and developing our character. “The traditional approach to Tarbiyya and the idea of Futuwwa was to embody these principles of wholeness and health and character development, that you can really say is an application of Islamic Psychology.” “When we are educating about Islam, what we are trying to do is not have the "Islam" as what we are educating about, but the approach to education is Islamic. So it's not justabout ta'lim (gaining knowledge), it's about tarbiyya ; the way with which we work with students is an embodiment of being, ..there is a lot to learn, but it's also about transformation not just information.
